Exemplar Care is expanding!

Exemplar Care, a direct primary clinic based in the Des Moines metro, has moved and is expanding its clinic to create the first around the clock urgent care in the region. Exemplar Care was founded by Jon Van Der Veer, DO, who leads operations at the clinic.

The clinic is located just a block of Interstate 80 at 7300 Westown Parkway Suite 330 West Des Moines, IA 50266 in West Des Moines. The direct primary care service launched during 2020. The urgent care service is scheduled to open in February 2021.

The direct primary care model is growing in popularity across the country and offers patients convenient access to in-person or virtual care for a low monthly membership fee. Patients have access to care for minor illnesses and injuries, routine services like annual physicals, and significantly discounted basic lab, imaging and pharmacy services. Member patients do not file insurance claims for the services provided through their membership.

The new urgent care clinic will provide care to members with no co-pay, while also serving patients with insurance coverage and those who choose to pay cash. Exemplar Care will offer expedited care for a wide range of non-emergency conditions, along with on-site laboratory and imaging services. The urgent care also includes extended care services for those recovering from an outpatient surgery, patients experiencing conditions like dehydration, those requiring infusions and more.
