Sarah Takes Control of Her Health

For more than three years, Sarah completed annual blood work through Exemplar Care as part of her employee benefits. This year, her results began to trend upward, and for the first time, they signaled a real reason to pause and pay attention.

She felt stuck in a cycle that wasn’t supporting her health. Her endurance had declined, her weight made staying active more difficult, and after exercising, she often experienced shortness of breath and a lingering cough that lasted for days.

“My provider, Leah Kipp, really took the time to listen and see the whole picture,” Sarah said. “When I was diagnosed with asthma, I was actually relieved. Having answers gave me hope.”

Leah explained the diagnosis, prescribed an inhaler, and walked Sarah through how to use it properly. She also shared educational resources so Sarah could better understand what was happening in her body and how to manage it.

“With that support, I decided to take control of my health,” Sarah said.

She committed to a consistent exercise routine, added weight training and cycling, and made changes to her eating habits. Over time, she learned which foods helped her feel fuller longer and reduced painful inflammation.

“So far, I’ve lost 16 pounds, and I’m beyond happy with my latest blood work,” Sarah shared. “My cholesterol and blood glucose levels have improved significantly, and I feel stronger and more energized than I have in years.”

A friend now walks with her every day, and Sarah has even signed up for her first 5K.

“I never thought I’d be able to jog,” she said. “Now I’m training, I feel amazing, and I’m committed to continuing this journey.”

Sarah feels confident continuing her journey, knowing Exemplar Care is there to support her as she takes an active role in her health.
